- The girls and I make banana muffins; before popping them in the oven, I dot each one with leftover cinnamon butter the weekend pinwheels. As they cook, the kitchen fills with the smell of toffee.
- Next door, a couple of blokes are doing the lawn. The girls climb the fence to find out what all the noise is about. Well hellaw down there! says one bloke in a broad Irish accent, addressing the top of Maggie's head, are ya not quite big enough?
- At Suzie's place, Becca is reunited with Liam, her friend from Newlands School. As we leave they are pledging undying love; Liam's dad and I exchange phone numbers.
